Chinese New Year's Party Welcomes You
A big party will be held next weekend in UT Basitile to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Both Chinese and non-Chinese students are welcomed to enjoy the Chinese New Year’s atmosphere and taste traditional Chinese food.
The Chinese New Year is popularly known as the Spring Festival because it starts from the Beginning of Spring, which is the most important festival in China. According to Chinese Lunar calendar, the New Year’s Day of 2006 falls on 29th of January of the western calendar.
On New Year's Eve, all the members of families come together to feast.The meal is more luxurious than usual. Some traditional food, such as Jiaozi, a boiled dumpling, is a must on the table. After the dinner, the whole family will sit together, chatting and watching TV. In recent years, the Spring Festival party broadcast on China Central Television Station (CCTV) is essential entertainment for the Chinese both at home and abroad.
Co-organized by ACSSNL (Association of Chinese Students in the Netherlands) Enschede, Student Union and the International Office of UT, the party will offer you documentary films about China, the CCTV New Year’s show, and performances of Chinese students. In addition to the free traditional Chinese food, each participant can have two free drinks from the bar.
