FIFA World Youth Championship
Turks hope for 'home' support
(FIFA.com) 31 May 2005
Just before the Turkish national U-17 team achieved yet another remarkable feat by winning the UEFA U-17 European Championship in Italy, four Dutch residents with a Turkish background gave their views on their chances in the FIFA World Youth Championship Netherlands 2005.
Just like the Dutch, the Germans and the Moroccans, the Turks are expected to play their matches with vociferous support coming from their compatriots from Germany, Belgium and, of course, the host country.
Muslu Naltanboglu (NEC), Hilmi Mihci (Stormvogels Telstar), Mustafa Aydin (Go Ahead Eagles) and Ömer Kaya (youth coach with RBC Roosendaal) are all Turkish professional footballers currently playing in the Netherlands. The quartet looked ahead to the FIFA World Youth Championship in order to promote the event among Turks living in Western Europe.
