Maastricht University maintains its position as one of the top ranking universities in the Netherlands, according to the Keuzegids Universiteiten Voltijd 2011 (2011 Guide to Higher Education for Full-time Programmes). This guide is compiled annually by the independent editorial board of the Centre for Higher Education Information in Leiden, as an informative guidebook for prospective students.
The ranking system for the Keuzegids 2011 is based on the opinions of students and experts on the quality of bachelor’s programmes, professors, facilities and more. Of the sixteen UM programmes assessed, the European Studies, European Public Health, European Law School, Economics, Econometrics and International Business programmes received the highest rankings. Three other UM programmes shared first place: Tax Economics, Medicine and Artificial Intelligence.
In the same week that the Keuzegids was published, the Bachelor and Master of International Business at the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics (SBE) underwent an ‘Assessment of Internationalisation’ by the NVAO (Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders). Both programmes received good assessments and were awarded an ‘Internationalisation’ certificate.
