Method of reimbursement ensuing from Court of Justice judgement concerning administrative charges for long-term residents
News item | 02-10-2012
This notice follows on the notice dated 9 August 2012 with as subject: Court of Justice judgement concerning administrative charges (for long-term residents). On 26 April 2012 the Court of Justice of the EU delivered judgment in proceedings initiated by the European Commission against the Netherlands on account of the administrative charges that the Netherlands levies for applications of long-term third-country residents (these matters fall under the European Directive 2003/109/EC).
It has now become clear which people are eligible for reimbursement. The people who are eligible for this do not have to ask for it; the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) will reimburse the administrative charges to the party that paid them, be it you or, for example, your lawyer or another relation. In almost all cases the bank account numbers are known to the IND. If the bank account number is not known, the IND will ask you for it. If the IND pays the amount to a third party, you will be informed. The payments are being made at present and are expected to be spread over a period of two months at most. |
