Bioinformatics Postdoc or Research Associate at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville Florida, USA
Basic Qualifications:
PhD degree in one of the following areas: bioinformatics, computational biology, mathematics, and biostatistics. Basic knowledge about human genetics and NextGen sequencing technologies.
Other Qualifications:
Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Experience with NextGen sequencing technology and data analysis tools preferred. Expertise in the use of informatics computing, scripting languages, and bioinformatics applications. Ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate various tasks on multiple, concurrent projects. Experiences and/or knowledge of the following are preferred but not required:
NextGen Analysis Tools: BWA/Bowtie/Novoalign, GATK, KEGG, GO, Tophat, Cufflinks.
NextGen sequencing platform: Illumina HiSeq, Languages: Java/C++, SQL, PERL/ruby/groovy. Databases: MS SQL Server, MySQL.
HPC: Sun Grid Engine
The position can either be a Research Fellow (Starting Salary $56K) or a Research Associate (Starting at $82K+). Mayo has hired quite a few fresh graduates at Research Associate level if it’s a perfect match. So the title is negotiable.
