Procedure forlegalisation of your birth certificate:
For your registration at the Delft City Hall, after you have arrived in the Netherlands, you need to show your legalised birthcertificate. I just received the information that, from 1 June 2012, the DutchImmigration Office (IND) has changed the procedure for legalisation of thebirth certificate.
Until now，people could easily legalise their birth certificate at the Dutch Embassy (atthe moment they picked up the visa), by showing the birth certificate and acertified English translation, but from 1 June the Embassy will ask for more“source” documents.
For the legalisation of your birth certificate youwill need the following documents:
1. Official notarial statement with thefollowing information:
- Family name
- Given name
- Date of birth
- Place of birth
- Name of father and mother
2. “Certified true copy” of the documenton which the notary has based his statement (1)
- Hukou from your parents in which yourbirth is mentioned OR
- Official statement from the hospitalwhere you were born in which is stated that the information can be used for registrationin the Hukou register OR
- A statement from the “Public SecurityBureau” in which the information about your birth is mentioned
3. “Certified true copy” of your OWN recent and complete Hukou
Notarised Certificates or Certified TrueCopies, which should be used abroad, need to be written in Chinese language andaccompanied by an English translation. The translation will be connected to theChinese documents by a stamp or seal. When you undo one of the documents theseal or stamp will be damaged.
Thelegalisation of your birth certificate should be done by the Dutch Embassy. Youcan do this together with picking up your visa.
