driving licence
There are additional advantages to the 30% ruling. A non-European licence is valid for a maximum of six months following registration with the municipal authorities. Once the period has passed, only a Dutch licence is legal and passing a driving licence exam is required. Even for experienced driver's this can be somewhat of a challenge.
However, for the emplyee for whom the 30% ruling has been approved, it is possible to acqure a Dutch driver's licence without undergoing an exam. All that is required in this case is a health certificate from the municipal authorities and which is provided to the CBR(Centered Bureau Rijvaardigheids-bewijzen-the Driving Test Organization).
With the approval of the CBR, the 30% ruling, a passport photo and 52 euro, forign employees can apply for their Dutch driver's licence at the municipality. Note, at the time of application the foreign licence will have to be redeemed and until the Dutch one is provided-within two to three weeks-driving in the Netherlands would be illegal. The licence issued is valid for ten years. |
