Discrimination is everywhere. You don’t need to worry about it too much. In fact, it is all about respect. The most important is that you respect yourself, which means you have to behave in the way accepted by the majority of the people. Basically, if you are one of them, you will earn the respect from others. For example, if you took bus without ticket and were caught, people might start thinking that Chinese people are all like that. Once abroad, you are not only an individual person any more, but also are you a representative of Chinese people.
There are indeed discrimination groups and skinheads in the Netherlands, but you don’t see them often because most of time they don’t appear in the same places where you go, such as school. The fact is that the majority of the Dutch people hate discrimination. Most Dutch people are warm-hearted. |
