This is the fourteenth annual study by Elsevier. Almost two thousand professors and associate professors, and well over seven thousand students, took part. Thirteen Dutch universities are assessed, then divided into three groups: broad-based, specialized and technical universities.
The professors and associate professors rated the lecturers and the quality of their scientific work, as well as the content of the Bachelor's and Master's programmes. The students assessed the programmes in terms of the following criteria: facilities, programme, quality of the teaching and of the lecturers, types of tests used, internal organization and communication. The opportunities for graduates in the job market were also assessed. After the professors and students had assigned points to each component, the averages were calculated.
Of the other specialist universities, Erasmus University of Rotterdam took second place while Maastricht University came third. Of the broad-based universities, Utrecht University topped the list, while Eindhoven University of Technology was voted the best technical university. |
