Fontys University of Professional Education may be a new name to you. But Fontys is not new in the world of education. Both in the Netherlands and in the rest of the world. It in fact arose from a merger between a number of renowned colleges of higher vocational education. As a consequence, at Fontys, it is possible to follow practically all higher professional education courses available anywhere in the Netherlands. These include courses in the sectors Health Care and Social Work, Economics and Communication, Applied Science and Technology, Visual and Performing Arts, Logistics and Transport, and Education. On top of this, the courses can be followed in numerous locations, amongst which the most important are Amsterdam, Eindhoven, 's-Hertogenbosch, Roermond, Rotterdam, Sittard, Tilburg, Venlo and Zwolle. All courses are focused on professional practice in a modern society. This focus is expressed through practical lessons, traineeships at home and abroad, and the use of modern information and communications technology in education. Teaching is provided at Fontys in small groups, which guarantees close contacts with your lecturers who can better be described as counsellors.
