Hi,

I want to thank you for showing interest in my investigation. Below you can find the survey. As said I want to find out the opinions on different varieties of English. This will be done on the basis of sound fragments on which the same English text is read aloud. The sound fragments can be listened by clicking on the name of the country of your choice in step 2. You will then be redirected to a website with a narrow grey strip. By clicking on the left arrow, the fragment will be played. The sound fragments have been divided into two groups: ‘authentic English’ and ‘world English’. From each group you choose two varieties of English: a beautiful and an ugly one. So in total, you judge four varieties. For each chosen variety, you then indicate in four scales what, according to you, applies to the fragment. In these scales, you are asked to judge applicability, among others. Here is meant to what extent you think you can use this variety. For instance, if you have much Anglophone contact with people from the Middle East, then it will improve the communication process by using this variety instead of North European English. Finally, you indicate your motivation for your choice per variety.
