The UM Scholarship Fund will make 20 scholarships available in the academic year 2007–08 for talented non-EU students who wish to follow a master’s programme in Maastricht. The UM High Potential Scholarships, worth over €20,000 each, will cover all related costs. Maastricht University (UM) aims to further strengthen its position as a leading European university offering high-quality education with an international orientation. These scholarships are in line with the recruitment policy for international students, with particular emphasis on master’s programmes.
The High Potential Scholarships cover the cost of tuition, travelling expenses, accommodation, insurance and a monthly allowance for living expenses. The faculties propose the names of selected candidates to the UM Scholarship Committee, which then takes the faculty ranking into account when awarding and distributing the scholarships. Every effort will be made, within the limits of the available budget and the quality of the proposals, to award at least one scholarship per faculty.
Applicants must come from a country from outside the EU, be admitted to a UM degree programme, be eligible for a residence permit, and be no older than 35. If candidates have equivalent qualifications, preference will be given to students from India, China and Turkey, three of UM’s recruitment policy target countries. Applications for scholarships must be received by the UM Scholarship Fund by 1 April 2007; the results will be announced on 15 May. More information about the application procedure can be found at
