A VWO-education in the Netherlands concentrates heavily on science and foreign languages (English, German, French). The Dutch VWO diploma is equivalent to the university entrance qualifications in other West European countries, such as the German 'Abitur' and the French 'Baccalaureate'. However, its level is one or two years higher than that of a pre-university education in most countries outside Western Europe. For this reason, diplomas like the Moroccan Baccalaureate, the Iranian High School diploma, the Indonesian SMA-diploma and High School diplomas from the United States and Canada do not provide admission to a Dutch university. |
