Motivation Letter The tourism industry has been in my blood for as long as I can remember. I started the exploration into this industry through the influence of my father. It was his passion for life and dreams that supported him to succeed both as a father and as a successful chairman of a first-class five star hotel. My family has owned the Novotel Wuhan Xinhua for more than 9 years. And for as long as I can remember, I have helped in every aspect of it often living, eating and sleeping there. It became my second home. Step by step, my interest in this magical world has been inspired. After serious consideration, I decided to enrich my knowledge so that I could become a person as excellent as my father and continue to improve this wonderful hotel that my family is so proud to have developed into the future.
Passion is to life what sunlight is to the earth. Luckily, I have possessed both of them over the past 19 years. As I grow in life experiences and gain more insight into the hotel industry, my roots are firmly planted in wanting to pursue my dream. With my inner passion, I am clear on my future direction. I am delighted to say that my future study of hotel management in your school would be a great stride in my pursuit on this journey. Also, as china opens and becomes more popular with foreign tourists. I can see my country developing into one of the greatest for both incoming and outgoing tourism in the future. People are becoming more affluent and conscious of service and quality and I want to satisfy this demand.
To be competent and prepare for my further education, I have made great efforts in my academic work with totally enthusiasm.Taking the initiative to improve my English, I got the certificate of College English Test Band 4. Due to the influence of my father, I cultivated a special sensitivity for people’s requirements. I have traveled to a lot of places, during which I always observed their hotels. Every time whilst visiting a different city, I would analyze factors such as location, service and management. I have been to Sanya, which is an island in the south of China. It made me feel as if I was in paradise with its stylish and special architectures, exotic flavors, the positioning by the sea and its near perfect service.
In relation to my study, theory is not enough, hands-on experience teaches much more. I spent many of my vacations doing varied jobs to gain valuable working experience. From July to October in 2010, I worked on the concierge, taking charge of delivering luggage to our valued guests' rooms. I often met many different foreigners and communicated with them, and it really enhanced my confidence and my interpersonal relationships. Having worked in a five star hotel, I was very conscious that I had to provide excellent service and I was proud to be able to assist many of our visitors who have never been to Wuhan before with their plans when touring the many famous attractions in my city. This way significantly helped to improve my English and communication skills. This was extremely enjoyable and very rewarding, being able to make the guests feel at home relaxed and in a comfortable environment. Apart from my hotel training, I engaged the services of a private personal tutor, an English man from Manchester, who was a hotel major and was rich in knowledge of hotel management. He allowed me to be a trainee teacher in his school afterwards as he was so impressed with my attitude and English level. From my past experience, I chose with his agreement to change the traditional way of teaching and created a new way which was based on the different characteristics and needs of each student.
I believed that learning is a lifelong process. However knowledgeable you are about this industry, it is so dynamic and changing so rapidly and I am eager to be part of its changes. The Hotelschool in the Hague is renowned to be one of the leading Hotel schools in the world. Small, independent, and associated to the Leading Hotels of The World Organization with many of its students achieving leading management jobs in hospitality once graduating. I was inspired to learn the variety of techniques to teach the students not only theory but also practical courses through internship. I believe that should I be given the opportunity to accomplish the next part of my journey at your school. I would grasp this with full passion and commitment, and I hope together to make my objectives become reality and my dream come true.
