To all students, although mainly for BSc students.
From the academic year 2005 the formerly independent programme ' European Masters Degree in Food Studies' will be incorporated into the Food Technology MSc programme as a specialisation. The programme will also be offered in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
However, contrary to the other specialisations, there are some differences in applying for this specialisation.
The specialisation is a joined programme from Wageningen University with University College Cork (Ireland), ENSIA (Paris, France), and Lund University (Sweden) as well as a series of industrial partners.
Students start in Wageningen, travel after Christmas to Ireland, followed by studying in Paris and Sweden. The second year includes a 8-month industrial placement in one of the major European food industries. Graduation is again in Wageningen.
Students with a finished BSc degree, or who intend to finish after this academic year, can apply.
Differences between this specialisation and the other specialisations :
- The number of students in this specialisation is limited to 15, therefore a second application procedure is necessary.
- All candidates need the same basic criteria. Unlike the other specialisations WAU graduates also need a grade point average of 7.0 in the BSc ! English test is not necessary.
- Students who apply need to be registered as MSc students; i.e. you need to have finished your BSc degree before September (graduation may be later, but all exams should have been passed). No re-exams are possible for the BSc after August 2005 !
- WAU students also have to fill out the application forms, normally used for external students. As the board of the European Masters programme decides on the admission to the specialisation, the student application files should be identical to make a balanced decision. Normally WAU students do not have to fill out all these forms. However, these forms should not be send to the admissions officer as for external students, but to me (Ralf Hartemink, room 426) to be handed over to the board.
- There is, in addition to the MSc degree, an additional European masters certificate. For this there are a few requirements. One is the compulsory team building week in August prior to the start of the programme (last week of August). Please keep this in mind when applying !
More information see the website http://www.eurmscfood.nl especially the 'Application' part for what is needed.
For present MSc students : maybe you know students in your home university who are interested. Please refer them to the website.
