History of Van Hall Larenstein
Van Hall Larenstein is a university with a longstanding tradition. It was formed from various universities from all over the Netherlands.
Leeuwarden: This location is the result of a merger from the 'Zuivelschool' (School for Dairy Science) in Bolsward and the Van Hall Instituut in Groningen. The history of the Van Hall Institute dates back from the beginning of the 20th century, when a number of Schools for Dairy Science and agricultural education were founded. In 1992 these schools merged to form a new institute: the Van Hall Instituut, with its headquarters located in Leeuwarden.
Velp: The predecessors of the college in Velp date from 1904. In 1988 the 'Rijks Hogere Landbouwschool' Deventer, the 'Rijks Hogere Scholen' in Wageningen and Boskoop and the 'Bosbouw en Cultuurtechnische School' in Velp, merged into the International Agricultural College Larenstein, situated in Velp and with a secondary location in Deventer. The school is located on the estate 'Larenstein', which is often visited by students from all over the country to improve their knowledge of plants.
Wageningen: This location has its roots in Deventer. This school, that used to be called 'Middelbare Koloniale Landbouwschool', was founded in 1912 and provided education to students who were employed on the plantations in Indonesia (a former Dutch colony). The focus has gradually shifted towards "international" but the tropics are still an important part in some courses that are now being taught in Wageningen. In 2006 this part of the university moved to Wageningen.
Van Hall LarensteinIn 2003 Van Hall Larenstein, University of Professional Education, was formed and shortly afterwards it became part of Wageningen UR. Van Hall Larenstein has approximately 4,500 students, distributed over three locations, with about 450 employees.
Officially acknowleged collegeAs University of Applied Sciences Van Hall Larenstein offers 4-year bachelor courses, with the purpose of training engineers who are capable of deploying their knowledge and problem solving skills in the specialism of their choice. The curriculum results in the degree of a Dutch 'Ingenieur (ing)'. Since a number of years graduates receive the internationally acknowleged title of Bachelor (B). All curricula have a specialised focus and are competence and practice based. A large number of students also enrol in a postgraduate curriculum, which leads to the degree of Master (M).
Van Hall Larenstein, the official registrationsIf you look for Van Hall Larenstein official registrations, for example at the IB-groep (study grants of applying for a study), you may have trouble finding Van Hall Larenstein. Van Hall Larenstein now consists of the two universities that date from way back, because the merger traject officially has not yet taken place. That is why the location Leeuwaren is called the 'Van Hall Institute' and the locations Velp/Wageningen can be found under the name 'Internationale Agrarische Hogeschool Larenstein'.
现在劳伦斯坦又和瓦大合并了,主校区是在Wageningen。现在劳伦斯坦是瓦大的一个分学院。
