Since some friends show interest in CASSW lately;
I am on behalf of CASSW to state some critical part of CASSW!!!
Some hot topic: such as what kind of activities CASSW coordinated or organized recently, I thought most people has known that the Global villiage day; The first time we won the Best performance Prize.Second, We surport the Chinese candidates to vote for the Wageningen University student council!!!
Then, the introduction day will open in the last weekend of September this year,expecially for New MSc or BSc Chinese students.
About Financial aspect: we never earn one single cent as the boardmember of CASSW until now. But we will give compensation on volunteers who paticipated into activities, such as gifts or dinner. Theoritically, we did not offer any money to board member in CASSW, execpt when they were volunteers to do some heavy work as compensation (rather low salary than average of Holland, around 3 euro per hour or even lower).
The whole budget for 2003-2004 study year is around 2000 euro (1000 is still need to be confirmed.) Usually, the spring festival will cost 700 to 800 euro from that; Global villiage is around 200 euro; introduction day will be 150 euro; CASSW running maintance should be 150 to 200 euro. Thanks giving party is around 100 euro; Public relation development will be inbetween 100 euro to 200 euro, including advertisment.Also, the financial acid we got only came from China embassy in Den Haag.The Wageningen University never give us any support from Financial part, although they could earn several thousands of euro from each Chinese student.
If someone think the purposse we join in CASSW is the money, you are totally wrong; because the whole year's budget is equal to one month's salary I earn from Wageningen University. So, just think about that! Whether you want to put 8 hours per week on some non-profit organization, just you could get some snack or pens as compensation; when you have got a job to earn thousand euro per month! Do we have to join CASSW, of course no; But why we do not quit from CASSW, because there should be some organization to help Chinese students no matter how large help we could offer!!! Never think the person in CASSW is simple; they could have not stronger ablilities than you, but they do care about the Chinese community in Wageningen containing all the Chinese people, BSc, MSc, PhD, postPhD,families, children!
Is CASSW important? maybe yes, maybe no; depends on your request and demand!
But no doubt, you can not either registration at China embassy nor get diploma certification without CASSW. Please don't forget that; otherwise you have to pay ten times energy as well as money to make it!
We also recommand Chinese students to join the part time job or organization offerred by University or other organization because the salary is normal, even 3- 4 times higher than they could get from CASSW.And you could get to know more international or dutch friends, make yourself more integrated!
Eventually, I will make all the budget and each event we cost money clear at the end of August, before I leave Holland.
P.S. Now we have got the offical Website host and space from Wageningen University; Then we plan to make some budget to update and develop this website: www.cassw.wur.nl
So. we need some volunteers to help us setup our website and update some data!
