It is hard to say which one is better IELTS or TOEFL
While, they are different in some aspects: Regarding IELTS, you need the demonstrate your ability in speaking, writing, listening and reading as well as the most important one - communication skill, so if you want to have a convinient result, you have to prepare carefully. For TOEFL, although there is no request for spoken English, the listening part is really a tough job for most Chinese students. While, the Grammar section is the easy and most Chinese students can have the high score even full score in this section, finally making the total score good. Meanwhile, as to the writing section in TOEFL (TWE), the score of TWE is separate from TOEFL, and it is easier than that requested in IELTS. You may prepare some models for each type of question, then 4.5 is much easier to obtain. As you intend to pursue your degree in law, the writting score is very important, for TWE, score of 4.5 or higher is a must.
In conclusion, if your English is good so you can take either IELTS or TOEFL,however, if your English is not so good, especially you are poor in writting and speaking, consider TOEFL as your choice.
Anyway, it is so important for all the students who wanna study in aboard to have the strong English ability.
