NXP (founded by Philips)
Candidates for NXP scholarships are expected to show a clear interest in a future career in microelectronics. In your essay you have to convince the Grant Awarding Committee of the Department of Microelectronics that you are interested in an education and a future career in the design of electronic circuits and systems or semiconductor physics and technology. The scholarships of NXP consist of maximally €15,000 for the entire duration of the MSc programme of 24 months.
This amount will cover most of your living expenses and includes a budget for the obligatory health and liability insurance taken care of by TU Delft.
Candidates are expected to cover the tuition fee by private means or additional support. It is ultimately intended that you will carry out your final MSc graduation project in close co-operation with NXP and it is stimulated that part of the thesis project will be conducted at NXP Nijmegen or Eindhoven (The Netherlands).
Initially the scholarships will be provided in the form of loans. Upon successful graduation NXP will probably offer you a position as an employee depending on the actual vacancy situation. If you do not accept the job offer the scholarship loan has to be refunded to NXP within 3 years. However, NXP is not obliged to offer you a position.
If for whatever reason NXP cannot or does not offer you a position the loan will be changed into a grant and you will no longer have the obligation to refund the loan. If you have been offered a position at NXP one third of your loan will be changed into a grant after each consecutive year of employment. If you have been working for NXP for at least 3 years the total loan will be changed into a grant. For detailed information about NXP surf to: www.nxp.com
