On May 23th, vice-minister of Immigration, N Albayrak visited TU Delft.
She spoke to Promood board members Anand Kumar Dokania and Marko Mihailovic about knowledge migration policies, where they have discussed several immigration and visa issued faced by PhD candidates.
After that, on May 25th, the government stated in a press release that they want to amend the knowledge migration laws, so that more students and PhD candidates from TU Delft can stay for a PhD position or another job in Netherlands.
The staying period to look for a job after completion,is extended from 3 months to a year. Also, the salary level for the entry into the highly skilled knowledge migration category was lowered from €34.130 to €25.000. This means the PhD or Post-Docs candidates can take the benefit of highly skilled migrant program.
This is very good news for PhD candidates who are coming to TU Delft, especially from Non-EU countries and again shows that the salaries paid to PhD candidates should be conform the labour agreements. |
