Preparing and applying for an internship in the Netherlands (for students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration)

Purpose of the training is to prepare students for searching an internship within the Netherlands and to give hands on information for interview preparation. CV (resume) writing is included as well practice of an interview with a recruiter.

The training takes four afternoons.The first and second session are focussed on formulating your own personal profile which includes e.g. competencies, work/learning style, personal values and interests. The second session will also adress orientation on and analysis of the Dutch ‘internship’ market. So, if you are looking for a job/internship outside the Netherlands, we advise you to attend the workshop How to apply for an international job?.

In the third session you will learn how to write a cover letter and curriculum vitae (resume) if applying for an internship in the Netherlands.

Finally in the fourth session, a recruiter from a company will have interviews with a selected number of participants to practice. The recruiter will give feedback on the cover letters and cv’s handed in by the participants. Please note that the training does not deal with legal issues like visas and working permits.

The target group for this training is:

  • Students studying in a Masterprogramme at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration who are looking for an internship to combine with the Master thesis;
  • Students studying in a Bachelorprogramme at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration who are looking for an internship for the Masterprogramme (next academic year) to combine with the Master thesis;
  • Students studying in a Bachelor or Masterprogramme at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and seeking an internship to gain workexperience
Please bear in mind that you will have one or two hours homework every week during the training.

Please make sure you hand in your CV not later than one week before the starting date of the training.
The training will be organised twice this semester.

  • Monday 13/11, 20/11, 27/11 and 4/12

The spoken language in the training is English.
Fee: 40 euro.
The maximum number of participants is 12.
