International Weekend

I have just seen on the Delta that this weekend and the next will be international weekends. A lot of activities will be organized.

For instance, there will be a salsa party in culture center (or sportscenter) tonight from 20:00.

Those who are interested may go there and have a look. :)

Friday 8th of September

18h00         Arrival and subscription (Sportcafé)

18h30         Welcome speeches (Sportcafé)
After a slideshow about living in the Netherlands, different organisations will be introduced to you. First of all you will get to see the organisers of the weekend and they will tell you everything to know about joining! Then the International Office of the TU Delft will tell you about their activities and will show you what they can do for you, while living in Delft. At last an international student will tell you about his experiences, about the studentlife in Delft, about the Dutchies, and everything else you want to know. Of course there will be time for questions.

18h30         Performance Juggling (Sportcafé)
The Dutch Champion of Juggling will show you his acts between the different speeches!! Enjoy!!

19h45         Cultural Activities (Cultural Center)
There will be two workshops proposed and you can pick one to join:
·         Capoeira
·         Salsa

20h30         Jazz Night (Sportcafé)
Relax, drink and have a talk while the Groover Big Band is playing their music.

Saturday 9th of September

09h00         Sport Activities (Sportcenter)
And what can the Sportcenter offer you? There are loads of different sportassociations you can join!
           Choose 2 of the following sports:
Fencing, fitness, soccer, tai-bo, wallclimbing, basketball, thaiboxing, beachvolley, self-defence, karate, table tennis, badminton, tennis or special sports for ladies.

14h00         Tour of Delft (departure from Sportcafé)
Sure you want to know everything about the city you’re going to live! Stip, the political student party in Delft will show you all the ins and outs of Delft. From the city hall to the best studentbar in town!

           Army Museum
It is the Army Museums wish to keep alive the history of the Dutch soldier throughout the centuries by creating a bridge between society and armed forces. For this reason the Museum has been building its collection since 1913. Currently its collection contains more than 200,000 objects.

19h00         Barbeque night (Sportcafé)

           Tropical Unit (Sportcafé)
During the barbeque the world music band Tropical Unit will play you an excellent performance!

Friday 15th of September

19h00         Arrival (Cultural Center)

19h30         Movie “Drumline” (Cultural Center)
A fish-out-of-water comedy about a talented street drummer from Harlem who enrolls in a Southern university, expecting to lead its marching band's drumline to victory. He initially flounders in his new world, before realizing that it takes more than talent to reach the top.

21h30         Talk by the rector of the TU Delft (Sportcafé)
Sure you want to meet the rector of the TU Delft!! He will be coming just for you, to tell you about the TU Delft, the facilities, the campus, everything!

22h00         International Night (Sportcafé)
We would like to ask everyone to bring a traditional drink or snack from your own country. We will make a stand for every country, so you can walk around and taste different cultures!! There will be the music playing to make the night really special!

Saturday 16th of September


14h00         Sport Activities (Sportcenter)
Try two of the following sports:
Fencing, fitness, soccer, tai-bo, wallclimbing, basketball, thaiboxing, beachvolley, self-defence, karate, table tennis, badminton, tennis or special sports for ladies.


           OR


14h00         Movie (Cultural Center)
If you don’t want to sport today, you can relax and watch a movie in the movieroom.
