我在论坛上看到一些同学因为全奖选择了别的学校，放弃了莱顿，这在我看来是非常可惜的事情。钱可以借，25万以后很容易就赚回来了；但是学校的名字却是跟你走一辈子的事情。你到任何地方，任何职场，都可以骄傲地说你是莱顿毕业的——这个很重要吗？仅仅是为了满足虚荣吗？学校名气的影响力到底有多大？是不是像一些同学说的，念了莱顿就高人三等了？我们来看：

the existence of three ready-made lists of the world's best universities have heightened competition the world over and governments are now paying closer attention, even utilising rankings to make policy decisions.
"Diplomas from 210 foreign universities will now be acknowledged in Russia without an additional state evaluation, according to a government order published Friday by Rossiiskaya Gazeta."
These partner universities were selected based on their position in the QS and Times rankings.

Previous research has found that moving up in the U.S. News rankings has been associated with an improvement in the next year’s admissions, such as lower acceptance rates, higher yields (the proportion of students admitted who decided to attend a given school), SAT scores of admitted students and other standard measures.

Years of research show that, when it comes to your future paycheck, the name on your degree really does count.

Yes. The more elite the school, the better its alums' paychecks.

因为一些钱放弃莱顿而选择不知名的小学校是短视的，非常可惜。我想莱顿的教育未必真的就比其它阿大之类的学校就是天翻地覆的区别，在学习成绩方面，个人努力当然是最关键的——不过就将来的影响来说，学校的名气肯定无疑是至关重要的。
