I have spent the last 18 months attempting to transfer my pension from Holland back to the UK and its a total nightmare. When I left Holland I wrote to my dutch pension (ABP) and asked what info they needed to transfer my money back home to the UK. They didn't respond so my UK pension provider initiated it all on my behalf and it took about 10 months for ABP to tell me I needed permission from the Dutch National Bank. It took 3 months to get permission and now they tell me I need permission from the Dutch tax authority. The Dutch tax people want, among a long list of other things, evidence that I have a minimum of a 5 year contract....I am a contract research scientist with a 3 year contract! Should I give up now or has anyone actually managed to do this?
